A Short History
225 million BC Early ancestors of apis mellifera (the honeybee) pollinated pre-historic flora.
200,000 BC Our ancestors, homo sapiens, hid in caves and farmed honeybees for fun and profit (a little conjecture here).
2000 AD Honeybee Centre founded.
2006 Honeybee Centre becomes the largest provider of honeybee colonies for blueberry pollination in British Columbia.

Honeybee Centre Today
Beekeeping

Honeyee Centre's beekeeping operation is centered around pollination of local crops in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia and the production of a number of natural varieties of honey for sale in our Country Store. We have grown to be the largest provider of honeybee colonies for blueberry pollination in British Columbia. Our bees also pollinate raspberries, pumpkin, squash, kiwis, apples, cranberries, currents, strawberries, and blackberries.

We provide support for the beekeeping community through sales of beekeeping equipment, particularly for hobbyists, small commercial operators, and people just starting out. We also supply bee livestock, whether packages from New Zealand in the early spring, queens from Hawaii, or local nucleus colonies and queens. Our beekeeping services include honey extraction, honey filtering and bottling, hive inspections, and beekeeping courses & seminars.
Country Store

Honeybee Centre operates a Country Store where we offer premium quality natural unpasteurized honeys, and a wide array of natural honeybee products that promote health & wellness. Your shopping experience is enhanced with the attractions in the Visitor Centre and tasty treats from the snack bar. We now offer our customers the convenience of shopping on-line for the majority of our products.
Visitor & Learning Centre

An important part of our mission is to bring the fascinating world of the honeybee to the general public. Through our education program, we provide an extensive school field trip program, group tours, guided tours for the general public, and a drop in Visitor Centre complete with large glass observation hive and beekeeping museum.
Festivals

We also like to have a little fun when introducing the amazing honeybee to the general public. So we host a number of festivals throughout the year that feature free entertainment, from live "bee beard" competitions, kid's crafts, musical entertainment, interesting exhibits, fresh produce, to Honeybee Centre's Beekeeper Games. You can sample up to 20 varieties of honey, watch honey being extracted, and even taste freshly extracted honey!
Film Industry

Honeybee Centre's bee experts have provided bee wrangling services to over a dozen films, TV shows and commercials in the past 3 years. Projects include The Wicker Man starring Nicholas Cage, and Case 39 starring Rene Zelliwiger.
Community & Business Participation

Honeybee Centre supports the Rotary Club and is proud to contribute to both national and local charity fund raisers as part of our festival activities.  We are active in the beekeeping industry. John Gibeau, President of Honeybee Centre, was elected to the position of president of the British Columbia Honey Producers Association (BCHPA) in 2006.
Our Staff

Our knowledgeable and friendly staff (even the beekeepers are friendly!) are always there to help you, whether its more information on why bee products are so good for you, or what are the current recommended treatments for Varroa mites. Our staff experience includes Bee Masters (BC Ministry of Agriculture certified), bachelor degrees in Biology, Education and Engineering, masters degrees in business, fire fighting, and professional football experience.
