Fraser Valley beekeepers reporting losses up to 50%.

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

John Gibeau, Honeybee Centre. -

Fraser Valley beekeepers are reporting losses of up to 50%. Symptoms include diarrhea inside and outside the colony. Diarrhea is one symptom of Nosema disease. It is also prevalent if there is rancid honey inside the hive that the bees are trying to consume. Both common causes for diarrhea have been eliminated by the local bee inspector. There is no known cause for the die off at this time.
