Fry's Corner Beestro at Honeybee Centre in Surrey is hiring!

Honeybee Centre is a commercial honeybee farm and specialty honey shop located in the agricultural heart of Surrey, B.C. We raise honeybees to pollinate the local blueberry, cranberry, raspberry and blackberry crops to produce specialty local honey and then bring our honeybee colonies to Northern Alberta to produce clover, borage, and alfalfa honey! We sell all of our honey at our shop in Surrey alongside exotic imported honey, honeybee health products and gifts. You can learn all about bees and beekeeping in one of our weekend public tours or in one of our basic beekeeping course offerings. Honeybee Centre has something to offer for everyone and we want you to become a part of our growing team!

Fry's Corner Beestro is our honey inspired restaurant open every day to the public. We serve a variety of homemade paninis, soups, fresh salads, desserts, coffee, and our incredibly popular high tea! Being part of the Beestro team allows you to flex your creativity muscle -- we're always adding new specials, fun high-tea themes, and delicious desserts to the menu designed by our very own staff!

We're currently seeking a permanent part-time Host/Cook.

Your responsibilities and duties include:
Hosting
o Greeting and serving customers
o Making hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages
o Serving food and tending to customers
o Doing dishes
o Keeping the restaurant clean and tidy throughout the day

Cooking
o Preparing food orders (sandwiches, salads, desserts)
o Prepping ingredients and menu items
o Baking a variety of desserts
o Helping with dishes
o Cleaning and organizing the kitchen, contributing to the shopping list, etc.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate the following:

- Work confidently by yourself and also cooperate with your colleagues
- Able to multitask well and occasionally work under pressure
- Is very friendly, outgoing, and confident, and attentive to our guest's needs
- Can accurately count and handle cash as well as use a cash register
- Able to learn quickly and complete tasks thoroughly
- Follows all health and safety guidelines

The following skills and experience are an asset!
- Valid food safe certificate
- Some cooking and serving experience
- Customer service or hosting experience
- A great attitude and willingness to learn new skills!

Compensation and other details:

Hours: 
Host: Wednesday and Thursday (8 hour shifts)
Cook: Friday and Saturday (8 hour shifts)

Compensation: $13 - $14.50 per hour (depending on relevant experience) plus tips, 4% vacation, staff discounts on food and honey shop products, friends & family discounts, free courses taught by Honeybee Centre
