Home Learners Honeybee Club

Explore the amazing world of the Honeybee! Each workshop introduces you to a honeybee topic and helps children explore it. You will enjoy demonstrations, group explorations, hands on activities and take home projects.

Program Objectives:

To introduce the amazing world of honeybees through hands on activities and explorations
To showcase the relationship between humans and honeybees
To feature the honeybee as an integral species in our food web
To explore the honeybee and other pollinators as a keystone species in Earth's ecosystem

All programs are on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 2:00pm
Cost $14/child/session
Recommended ages 6-10


November 15th - The Bees Knees: All about bees
Bee Biology, biology of the hive, body parts, who lives there, jobs and roles. 
Activity: Build a Plasticine bee


December 20 - Yumm! Honey Extraction

Learn about how honey is made, where honey comes from and how we get it out!  Watch an extraction demonstration, taste honey from the frame.
Activity: Pour your own jar of honey to take home

February 21 - Mind Your Own Bees Wax
Learn about the produce of the hive, what bees use them for and how they are helpful to humans.
Activity: Roll a candle, and pour a skep candle to take home

April 18 - Bee Kind
What do the bees do for us?  What can YOU do to help the bees?
Activity: Build a mason bee home to put up in your yard
